Station Coverage Across Surat

Red Line (Corridor 1)

21 stations stretch 21.61 km from Sarthana through the old city centre and south to Dream City. Six underground stations between Labheshwar Chowk and Chowk Bazar serve Surat's densest commercial zones near the railway station and Chowk Bazar market. The elevated section from Althan Tenement to Dream City covers the rapidly developing southern corridor near Surat Diamond Bourse.

Green Line (Corridor 2)

18 elevated stations cover 18.74 km from Bhesan in the southwest to Saroli in the east. The western stretch passes through Piplod, Adajan, and Athwa - residential areas with high commuter density. East of the Majura Gate interchange, the line runs through Udhna's industrial belt and the Pandesara GIDC zone toward the proposed bullet train station connection at Saroli.

Both lines meet at Majura Gate, the network's only interchange. A resident within 2 km of either corridor can typically reach a station in under 20 minutes on foot.

Location and Coverage Questions

How accurate is the nearest station finder?

The finder uses your device GPS and calculates straight-line (haversine) distance to each of the 38 stations. GPS accuracy on modern smartphones is typically 3-10 meters outdoors. Actual walking distance will be 20-40% longer than the straight-line figure because roads do not follow direct paths. Treat the walk time as a lower bound rather than an exact estimate.

Why does the finder show stations on both Red and Green Lines?

The tool ranks all 38 stations by proximity regardless of which line they serve. If you are near the Majura Gate interchange, for example, both the Red Line and Green Line platforms will appear since they share the same location. This helps you pick the best boarding point for your destination without limiting results to a single corridor.

What if my browser blocks location access?

If you deny location permission or your browser does not support geolocation, the page offers manual coordinate entry. Open Google Maps on your phone, long-press your location, and copy the latitude and longitude values into the fields. You can also search Google Maps for your address and read the coordinates from the URL.

How far apart are Surat Metro stations on average?

Red Line stations are spaced roughly 1.03 km apart across its 21.61 km corridor, while Green Line stations average 1.10 km spacing over 18.74 km. The underground section between Labheshwar Chowk and Chowk Bazar has tighter 0.65-0.85 km gaps because it passes through the dense city centre. Most residents within 2 km of the alignment will find a station within a 15-20 minute walk.

Can I get directions to a station from this page?

Each result card includes a "Get directions" link that opens Google Maps with walking navigation from your current position to that station. Google Maps accounts for actual road layout, pedestrian paths, and traffic signals, giving you a more realistic route than the straight-line distance shown on this page.

Station locations based on GMRC alignment maps and OpenStreetMap data. Walking distances are straight-line estimates; actual walking routes will be longer.
