Weekends and Holidays
Saturday schedule
Expected to follow the standard weekday timetable. Peak-hour frequency remains at 4 minutes. Saturdays are working days for a large portion of Surat's diamond polishing and textile workforce, so ridership patterns mirror weekdays.
Sunday and public holidays
GMRC may adopt a reduced peak frequency of every 6 minutes instead of 4. First and last train timings remain the same. National holidays (Republic Day, Independence Day) and Gujarat-specific holidays (Uttarayan, Navratri) follow Sunday schedules unless GMRC announces special services.
Interchange Transfers at Majura Gate
Majura Gate is the network's only interchange, connecting the Red Line (station #13 of 21) and Green Line (station #11 of 18). Platform-to-platform transfer takes approximately 3-5 minutes including walking and waiting. During peak hours, Green Line trains arrive every 4 minutes, so the maximum combined wait and walk for a transfer is under 7 minutes. If you are catching the last train on the connecting line, aim to reach Majura Gate at least 10 minutes before the last departure from that line's terminus.

Schedule and Timing Questions
What time does the first Surat Metro train depart?
First trains on both the Red Line and Green Line are expected to depart at 6:00 AM from each terminus simultaneously. On the Red Line, this means trains leave Sarthana and Dream City at 6:00 AM heading in opposite directions. On the Green Line, Bhesan and Saroli departures are also at 6:00 AM. Intermediate stations see the first train 1-2 minutes after the terminus departure, based on distance.
How frequently do Surat Metro trains run during rush hour?
During morning peak (8:00 AM to 11:00 AM) and evening peak (4:00 PM to 8:00 PM), trains are expected every 4 minutes on both lines. That gives you 15 trains per hour per direction. By comparison, off-peak midday service runs every 8 minutes, and early morning and late night slots run every 10 minutes.
When is the last Surat Metro train?
The last train from each terminus is expected to depart at 10:00 PM. The last train from Sarthana reaches Dream City at approximately 10:38 PM. The last Green Line train from Bhesan reaches Saroli by around 10:34 PM. Plan to arrive at your boarding station at least 5 minutes before the last departure, since AFC gates close shortly after.
Are Surat Metro timings different on weekends and holidays?
Weekday and weekend schedules are expected to be similar, though GMRC may reduce peak-hour frequency on Sundays to every 6 minutes instead of 4. National holidays like Republic Day and Diwali may follow a Sunday schedule. Special late-night service extensions are possible during Navratri and other major Gujarat festivals, but these will be announced separately by GMRC.
How long does an end-to-end Red Line journey take?
Sarthana to Dream City covers 21.61 km across 20 stations (plus Dream City). Including 30-second dwell time at each stop and speed restrictions in the 6.47 km underground section, the total one-way journey takes approximately 38-40 minutes. Trains operate at a design speed of 80 km/h but average 32-35 km/h once station stops are factored in.
Timings based on GMRC operational projections and comparable metro systems (Ahmedabad Metro, Delhi Metro). Final timetable to be published by GMRC before commercial operations.
