Route Planning Questions
How do I plan a route that crosses both the Red Line and Green Line?
Select your origin and destination stations regardless of which line they are on. The planner automatically routes through Majura Gate, the only interchange station connecting both corridors. For example, travelling from Adajan Gam (Green Line) to Surat Railway Station (Red Line) involves boarding at Adajan Gam, riding 4 stations east to Majura Gate, transferring to the Red Line platform (3-5 minute walk), and continuing 5 stations north to Surat Railway Station. Total journey takes roughly 30 minutes including the transfer.
How accurate are the estimated travel times shown?
Travel times are calculated using an average speed of 33 km/h, which accounts for 30-second dwell time at each station and 80 km/h peak speed between stops. Cross-line routes include an additional 3 minutes for the platform transfer at Majura Gate. Actual times may vary during the first months of operation as GMRC fine-tunes schedules. Peak-hour waits are under 4 minutes, so total door-to-door time adds roughly 2-4 minutes to the estimates shown.
What is the cheapest way to travel on Surat Metro?
A Smart Card gives 10% off every journey compared to buying individual tokens. For a daily commuter riding Sarthana to Majura Gate twice (Rs 20 token fare each way), the Smart Card saves Rs 4 per day or about Rs 104 per month. The card costs Rs 150 (Rs 100 balance + Rs 50 refundable deposit). If you are visiting for a day and plan 4+ rides, the Rs 200 Tourist Card (1-Day) with unlimited rides is the better deal.
Can I see a step-by-step list of all stations on my route?
Yes. After selecting your origin and destination stations and pressing "Find Route", the results panel shows every intermediate station in sequence. Each station displays its name, whether it is elevated or underground, and the running distance and time from your starting point. Interchange transfers at Majura Gate are flagged with an orange marker so you know exactly where to switch platforms.
What is the longest possible journey on Surat Metro?
The longest single-line journey is Sarthana to Dream City on the Red Line at 21.61 km, taking roughly 38 minutes across 20 intermediate stops. The longest cross-line journey is Sarthana (Red Line north terminus) to Saroli (Green Line east terminus) at approximately 24.6 km, requiring an interchange at Majura Gate and taking about 48 minutes total.
Distances derived from GMRC corridor alignments. Travel times based on 33 km/h average operating speed (80 km/h design speed with 30-second station dwell times).
