Majura Gate Interchange Guide

Majura Gate is the single point where Surat Metro's two corridors cross. Every journey between the Red Line (Sarthana - Dream City) and the Green Line (Bhesan - Saroli) passes through this station. The platform-to-platform transfer takes 3 to 5 minutes through a dedicated walkway inside the paid zone.

Where the Lines Meet

Red Line (Corridor 1)

Majura Gate is station #13 of 21 on the Red Line. Northbound trains head toward Sarthana (12 stations, ~20 min). Southbound trains continue to Dream City (8 stations, ~16 min). This line includes the 6.47 km underground section between Labheshwar Chowk and Chowk Bazar.

Green Line (Corridor 2)

Majura Gate is station #11 of 18 on the Green Line. Westbound trains travel to Bhesan (10 stations, ~18 min). Eastbound trains head toward Saroli (7 stations, ~14 min). The entire Green Line is elevated, so trains maintain consistent speed without tunnel restrictions.

Platform Layout and Transfer Walkway

Both Red Line and Green Line platforms sit at elevated level. A covered transfer corridor connects the two platforms without requiring you to exit the fare-paid zone or pass through AFC gates again.

Amenities along the corridor

The transfer walkway is climate-controlled with CCTV coverage and emergency call points every 30 meters. Drinking water stations and restrooms are accessible from the corridor without leaving the paid zone.

Interchange Transfer Questions

How long does the interchange transfer take at Majura Gate?

Walking between the Red Line and Green Line platforms takes 3 to 5 minutes depending on crowd density. During peak hours (8:00-11:00 AM and 4:00-8:00 PM), trains on both lines arrive every 4 minutes, so the total transfer including waiting rarely exceeds 7 minutes. Signage in both English and Gujarati marks the transfer corridor at every turn.

Do I need to buy a new ticket when changing lines at Majura Gate?

No. A single token, Smart Card, or Tourist Card covers the entire journey regardless of how many lines you use. Fare is calculated on total distance from your entry station to your exit station. You do not tap out and back in at Majura Gate - the transfer corridor connects the two platforms inside the paid zone.

What is the last possible interchange transfer time at Majura Gate?

The last trains depart each terminus at 10:00 PM. The Red Line last train from Sarthana reaches Majura Gate at roughly 10:22 PM, while the Green Line last train from Bhesan arrives around 10:18 PM. To safely transfer, reach Majura Gate by 10:10 PM at the latest. After that, connecting trains may have already departed the interchange.

Which journeys actually require a transfer at Majura Gate?

Any trip that starts on one line and ends on the other. For example, Surat Railway Station (Red Line) to Adajan Gam (Green Line), or Bhesan (Green Line) to Dream City (Red Line). If both your origin and destination are on the same line, the train runs direct with no transfer needed. Roughly 40% of possible station-to-station combinations on the network require the Majura Gate interchange.

Is Majura Gate accessible for wheelchair users during transfers?

Yes. The transfer corridor between platforms is step-free with lifts at both ends. Tactile floor strips guide visually impaired passengers between the two platforms. Platform screen doors on both lines open level with the train floor, so no ramp is needed to board. GMRC staff are posted at the interchange during all operating hours to assist passengers who need help.

Transfer details based on GMRC station design specifications and comparable elevated metro interchanges in Ahmedabad and Delhi. Final platform layout and signage will be confirmed by GMRC before commercial operations.
